Territory Acknowledgment and Commitment to Reconciliation
Percy's Out of School Care gathers on the traditional territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples. We acknowledge the local Nations of Tsartlip, Pauquachin, Tsawout, Tseycum, and Malahat. We recognize SENĆOŦEN as the principle First Nations language of the Saanich territory. We would also like to acknowledge the lək̓ʷəŋən territory which includes the Songhees and Esquimalt peoples.
The W̱SÁNEĆ People's land spanned east through the Gulf Islands and San Juan Islands and northeast across Georgia Strait to Boundary Bay. Their territory included the Saanich Inlet and into the forest lands on West Saanich. On the Saanich Peninsula, their land went as far south as far as PKOLS (Mount Douglas), and from there across to W̱QENNELEȽ (Mt. Finlayson) and SELE₭TEȽ (Goldstream).

The W̱SÁNEĆ People have resided on this land since time immemorial and their historic relationship with the land continue to this day.
Percy's Out of School care is committed in providing equal access to childcare services to local First Nations families. We will continue to work with Sidney Elementary and SD63 in supporting programs and curricula that build deeper understandings of the W̱SÁNEĆ culture, values, and history.
